After
graduating college in 1993 Waylon came to Boca Grande to
pursue his true passion, fishing. Following in the
footsteps of his ancestry, and part of the island's
fishing legacy, Waylon became a fourth generation
fishing guide.
Waylon specializes in
light tackle backcountry fishing aboard his 20ft. Lake
N' Bay for: Tarpon, Snook, Redfish and Trout and
traditional Tarpon fishing aboard his 24ft. Morgan,
Blaze, in world famous Boca Grande Pass. Charters for
other seasonal species such as: Pompano, Cobia, Spanish
Mackerel, Permit and King Fish, are available at their
optimal times, thru-out the year.
Waylon is a director of
the Boca Grande Fishing Guides Association, an
organization which is dedicated to the preservation of
the fishery as well as the traditional ways of tarpon
fishing. Catching fish and showing clients a good time
is Waylon's number one focus but on occasion he has been
talked into fishing a tournament or two and has held his
own taking 3rd Place, most tarpon released, in the 1999
World's Richest Tarpon Tournament; 2nd Place in a
Hollinswood Tarpon Tournament as well as 2nd Place in
the Captain's Classic Tarpon Tournament, both in 2003;
2nd Place in the Bomo Tarpon Tournament for children and
2nd Place in the Billy Bo Tarpon Tournament, both in
2007. Waylon almost broke his 2nd Place tradition with
gaff in hand, when the tarpon came off the hook in the
2006 Boca Grande Fishing Guides Invitational Tournament.
